We love video games! We feel that with our Podcast we bring a unique perspective to video game commentary that is both entertaining and informative. We think our show has a certain professional quality to it that seperates it from most of video game Podcasts out there.

Chris, who works for Gamasutra.com, brings an up-to-the-minute journalistic view to the show. Elizabeth, a hardcore gamer and community manager at 2K Games, brings both a female and industry perspective. And Mark, who works with the Federal Government, is a Network Engineer and has been a hardcore gamer all his life bringing a ton of opinions with him.

Join us in our shenanigans and tomfoolery for we have a lot to say!

Played is back again, making up for lost time with a beefy episode. First up is discussion of Ensemble’s disassembly, leading into whether Rare is actually living up to its astronomical price tag and how honest Microsoft is being about its commitment to Games for Windows. We have a bit of a disagreement about Bethesda’s reaction to Australia’s threats to ban Fallout 3, but no disagreement as to whether the iPhone is actually the best handheld gaming platform around (hint: it’s not).

As to what we’ve been playing, Liz has reenergized her dormant Viva Pinata addiction with the new Trouble in Paradise, and Chris has gone back to Call of Duty 4 and is both impressed and slightly dismayed. Mark found a lot to love in Spore if you stick with it, and was actually pleasantly surprised by Too Human–after initially being unpleasantly unsurprised.

Finally, we address the reactions of two successful musicians, Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney and John Mayer of John Mayer, to Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Chris rebuts. Plus: Everday Shooter! It’s still awesome!

This includes Far Cry 2 tech, its dynamic systems, and the interesting steps the development team is taking to make a game with a message that’s not restricted or heavy-handed. We also talk about the LEGO Universe MMO and whether or not it could be the Wii of MMOs. Does the idea of pirates, dragons, and space all existing in the same universe sound exciting?

In “What We’re Playing,” Elizabeth sinks her teeth into No More Heroes. Chris is all about Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, and Mark begins playing the epic Lost Odyssey, gushes over The Club wondering why is no one playing this game, and lastly admits that he’s ventured back into World of Warcraft.

Hold on to your Shackseats people! Steve Gibson, founder of Shacknews.com, stops by to chat a little bit about his popular gaming website. Some of the many topics include how it all began, the newly redesigned look, what the future holds, the amazing shack community, how he once treated John Carmack to McDonalds after a ride in Carmack’s Ferrari, why he thinks he’s not a very good manager, and even how he once dropped a shack server. This one’s chock full of inane tomfoolery, fatuous shenanigans, and loads of laugher–you’re not going to want to miss it!

Welcome to our super-duper, kickass God Hand edition of the show where we’re going to be talking about this under appreciated masterpiece. Also, to celebrate the event, we’re giving away 2 copies of the game (listen in for details on how to win).

Also Included are our impressions of the GTA IV trailer that was recently released by Rockstar Games. Our very own Elizabeth’s speaks on her involvement in petitioning the gaming community to convince 2KGames to release a special edition of BioShock. Harmonix announced “Rock Band” and we share our thoughts on whether or not the company is jumping the shark with this upcoming game. Sony announced a price drop for the PSP to $169 (US dollars!), and Elizabeth explains why she’ll never own one. Sega officially announces they will stop repairs on the Dreamcast and Saturn–so we reminisce a little about those machines and take a trip down gaming nostalgia lane.

Ryan Murray from the God Hand fan site Kung Pao Fu, joins us to discuss this KICKASS game! Topics of discussion are the gameplay, the KICKASS music, the incredibly entertaining cut scenes, and just the sheer amount of KICKASS content in this game.

In “What We’re Playing”, Chris talks about his experience playing Enemy Territory: Quake Wars last week, and Mark gives his impressions of the highly anticipated game S.T.A.L.K.E.R..

CES Coverage! Chris has returned from his trip to the massive Consumer Electronic Show in Vegas with some comments and impressions on gaming related material for us. More specifically, we talk about Crysis, Hellgate: London (Chris also clears some confusion surrounding a news post he made on shacknews.com last week concerning Bill Roper and the multiplayer aspect of the game), World in Conflict, Castlevania: SotN, and some rambling inbetween.

We discuss the prototype Xbox 360, “Zephyr”, and the possibility of that ever showing face. The Godfather is coming to the Wii, and is expecting to utilize the Wii-mote in some interesting ways.

Also, Elizabeth gives her impression of the Motorolla Q (sparking some discussion about the newly announced iPhone) in her Gadgetry section and Chris discusses some new, FREE, stuff available on Xbox Live! in his Microtransactions segment.

In Episode 8 we talk about Activision’s recent game releases on Valve’s digital distrobution service “Steam”, Capcom’s recent decision to desolve Clover Studios (Okami, God Hand, Viewtiful Joe), Judge Ronald Friedman of the Third District Court of Appeals watched a representative from “Bully” publisher Take Two Interactive and its subsidiary Rockstar play through the game’s schoolyard settings to determine if it’s suitable for release under its current ESRB rating of “T for Teen”, also according to the study by Los Angeles based Interpret -8.9 million U.S consumers are willing to purchase a Playstation 3 and only 800,000 are willing to purchase an Xbox 360….hrm, and will the news group Reuters to start appearing in the MMO “Second Life”?

<itunes:summary>EPIC PODCAST! EPICAST! HA! Since we were delayed in getting a podcast recorded last week, we decided to combind the two so strap yourself in! :) Also, we're now using M4A as our primary distrobution format. This means that you will now be able to see the chapters and pictures in iTunes and your iPod.
In Episode 8 we talk about Activision's recent game releases on Valve's digital distrobution service "Steam", Capcom's recent decision to desolve Clover Studios (Okami, God Hand, Viewtiful Joe), Judge Ronald Friedman of the Third District Court of Appeals watched a representative from "Bully" publisher Take Two Interactive and its subsidiary Rockstar play through the game's schoolyard settings to determine if it's suitable for release under its current ESRB rating of "T for Teen", also according to the study by Los Angeles based Interpret -8.9 million U.S consumers are willing to purchase a Playstation 3 and only 800,000 are willing to purchase an Xbox 360....hrm, and will the news group Reuters to start appearing in the MMO "Second Life"?

Elizabeth's always enjoyable gadgetry (wait till you hear this one) is back again. Also, we announce the winners of our 2Kgames contest and read their rants on the air for everyone to enjoy, We read some viewer mail to answer some questions you guys had for us, and (of course) what we're currently playing, and much much more!

Per listeners request we'll be linking any applicable links discussed in the podcast here:
